Summary
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing its proposed remedy under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), as amended for the former Ingersoll Rand Industrial Technologies facility located in Athens, PA. EPA’s proposed remedy consists of continued groundwater monitoring for trichloroethylene until EPA’s drinking water standard is attained and the excavation and disposal of contaminated soil at the Willow Street parking lot. The proposed remedy also consists of institutional controls that restrict groundwater and land use. The Public Notice has been posted for review and comments during the next 30 days. The comment period will begin on August 16, 2016 and end on September 15, 2016.
