Alexis Strauss, Acting Regional Administrator for EPA's Pacific Southwest Region (Region 9)

Alexis Strauss is the Acting Regional Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Pacific Southwest Regional Office, based in San Francisco. She oversees a staff of 760 charged with implementation and enforcement of all federal environmental laws in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, the Pacific Islands, and 148 tribal nations. From 1994 to 2012, Ms. Strauss served as Regional Water Division Director where she led the activities under the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and other statutes. Earlier in her career at EPA, Ms. Strauss worked in the Superfund and Hazardous Waste programs.
