Earlier in her career, Dr. Greene worked at the Oklahoma State Department of Health, in the public health laboratory and as a hazardous waste inspector. She has over twenty-five years experience at the federal level, in positions that focus on environmental science and public policy. In addition to holding several positions at EPA, she has experience at the Department of Energy working on nuclear and hazardous waste issues under the National Environmental Policy Act; as the Chief for the Hazardous Waste Disposal Section at the Drug Enforcement Administration; and as a Program Coordinator in the Biological Resources Discipline at U.S. Geological Survey. At EPA, Dr. Greene has worked on a variety of environmental issues, ranging from medical waste to risk managment plans. She was also Chief of the Information Exchange Partnership Branch in the Office of Environmental Information.
Dr. Greene has served as an Expert for the United Nations on the UN Project to prepare the Guidelines for the Safe Handling and Disposal of Chemicals used in the Illicit Manufacture of Drugs. She also developed and taught Environmental Health as an Adjunct Professor at George Mason University.
She earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Public Policy from George Mason University. She holds Masters Degrees in Environmental Public Policy and Microbiology, from the University of Maryland and Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center, respectively. She received an undergraduate degree in Biology from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma.
During her career, Dr. Green has received numerous awards, including two Bronze Medals for her contribution to the development of state air toxics regulations and research on medical waste incinerators that led to national regulations; two Silver Medals for her work on the Cross-Media Electronic Reporting Rule and the Environmental Information Exchange Network; and a Partnership Award contribution to strengthening tribal participation in the Environmental Information Exchange Network.
